Bluescope Distribution

Bluescope, a leader in the steel processing industry, approached Excision with a need for an advanced bandsaw and material handling solution. Their primary requirement was a bandsaw capable of cutting both packs and mitres, which would allow them to handle a variety of steel profiles. They also wanted to minimize their downtime and improve overall productivity.

Excision provided Bluescope with a high-performance BTM bandsaw specifically designed for cutting packs and mitres. To take things a step further, we integrated a custom material handling loading system. This system features a 2-metre buffer zone for steel which allows the automatic saw to operate continuously without many interruptions. The system features clutches that interface with the hitch feed on the saw. This optimises the workflow and reduces the risk of misalignment and operational delays.

The addition of the outfeed automatic unloading table was a key component, enabling cut pieces to be automatically moved into a designated storage section. They can then by unloaded by crane. This significantly reduced manual handling, which has decreased downtime as well as improving safety.

The combination of advanced bandsaw and custom material handling with an automatic unloading system allows for continuous operation and reduced manual intervention.

This has resulted in a marked improvement in operational efficiency.
