YG-1 TD174 is a TiN-coated HSS-E UNC spiral flute machine tap for steel. Its special flute geometry evacuates chips effectively when tapping blind holes. Designed for Unified coarse threads, it provides a 60° thread form for compatible UNC work. The TD174 range covers #4-40 UNC through 3/4-10 UNC sizes. YG-1 rates it excellent for non-alloy, low-alloy, high-alloy and tool steels. Suitable applications include steel components requiring blind-hole thread cutting in holes up to 2.5×D. Each tap has three flutes, supporting the listed chip evacuation design. The TiN surface treatment completes the dedicated steel-tapping configuration. Available thread sizes suit a practical selection of common coarse-threaded steel components.
